Search engines use 4 common methods. The first one is the most
important and also the one and only which can only be affected by
know-how and without any financial expenses:

Robot based technique
Small programs- so called spider-robots – are used to search the
internet and create an index with the found contents. Filter and
algorithms set in this way which themes and terms are important for
your page. To be always front positioned, many different things play a
role. Belonging links need to lead to your pages, your page must
contain the belonging contents, etc. The strategy is different from
customer to customer and sometimes only a question of small details! |

2) Paid
Results
You pay a certain sum for each visitor of your page and are therefore
placed in search engines. E.g. 10 Cent. Only if the interested person
clicks the searching result (and therefore should be really interested
in your offer), he/she is forwarded to your page. |

Editorial based Technique
Using this method, all pages and contents are checked and if needed
absorbed by hand. Some bigger search engine providers offer the
possibility to be accepted or processed faster by paying a fee. On the
other hand the registration might take quite a long time or even not
happen at all. |

4) Meta
Search Engines
